Improved Security Coming to South Hedland Aquatic Centre

In April, the Town will be completing security upgrades to the entrance of South Hedland Aquatic Centre (SHAC), improving the facility’s safety for patrons and staff.

The more secure entrance will allow for full use of a member’s fob, as well as casual entry via a window.

The decision to upgrade security is result of the Town’s commitment to improve community safety, following a number of anti-social incidents at public facilities in recent months.

Mayor Peter Carter welcomed SHAC’s security upgrade, saying it was important to make sure residents and staff felt safe at public pools.

“We’re upgrading to a secure entrance at South Hedland Aquatic Centre to help keep our staff and the community safe.

“It’s important to make sure we reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour at our public facilities, which provide families with a place to congregate and have fun.

“The upgraded entrance will give our staff better peace of mind, a greater ability to track patronage and hopefully reduce anti-social behaviour happening in the future.

“I’m pleased the Town is delivering on the SCP commitment to ensure our community facilities are upgraded and in line with modern security standards.”

Further announcements will be made on the Town’s Facebook pages regarding the upgrade work dates.
