Scheduled maintenance on the Leisure Pool at South Hedland Aquatic Centre is now complete.
The Leisure Pool will reopen to the public at 5am on Monday, 31 May. Gratwick Aquatic Centre, which remained open while works were ongoing, will close for winter at 6pm on Sunday, 30 May.
While works were ongoing, the Main Pool’s temperature at South Hedland Aquatic Centre was raised to accommodate the Learn to Swim program. With the reopening of the Leisure Pool, the Main Pool will return to ordinary operating temperatures.
These works were undertaken in line with the Town’s commitment to revitalising Hedland’s sporting and recreation facilities, catering to both current and future community needs.
Mayor Peter Carter thanked the community for their patience and support.
“I’d like to thank the community, contractors and Town staff for helping us make these maintenance works possible.
“Our priority is to maintain the Town’s aquatic facilities to the highest standard, providing locals with welcoming, family friendly spaces to cool off from the Pilbara sun.”
