Local families are invited to attend a special storytime session with West Australian Ballet on Thursday 17 September from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Colin Matheson Pavilion.

Children will be guided through creative movement activities that explore characters and will discover the enchanting music of ballet.

This initiative is part of a range of activities West Australian Ballet is holding in Hedland, including the Youth Ensemble rehearsals for aspiring young dancers.

West Australian Ballet is the first ballet company formed in Australia still in existence today, touring nationally and internationally. Based in Perth and driven by Artistic Director Aurelien Scannella, the company is renowned for superior classical and contemporary ballet.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP encouraged local families to attend the session.

“I’d like to thank West Australian Ballet for engaging local children with the magic of ballet through informative and interactive sessions like the special September storytime.

“As a Town, we’re committed to diversifying the local arts scene by continuing to provide opportunities for locals to discover the magic of ballet.”

This is a free activity for children three years and above. Bookings are essential: please phone South Hedland Library on 9158 9373 to confirm your child’s place.
