Mandatory contact registers come into effect from Saturday 5 December

Hedland based businesses, community groups and residents are advised that mandatory contact registers will be required at particular locations from Saturday 5 December. This is a WA Government mandate to help contact tracing efforts in the event of a potential COVID-19 outbreak in the state.

Organisations need to download and register the SafeWA app from the Apple App store or Google Play. Once details are registered, a QR code poster will be sent to the registered email address which needs to be printed and displayed at the venue entrance. This will enable patrons to scan the QR code on arrival. Organisations should also provide a hard copy sign in sheet for people who do not have, or do not wish to use, the app.

The following organisations are required to comply with this mandate:·

  • Food and licensed venues (restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, taverns, nightclubs)
  • Gyms, indoor sporting centres and pools
  • Places of worship and funeral parlours
  • Beauty and personal care services including hairdressers and barbers·
  • Galleries and museums
  • Cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues
  • Auction houses and real estate inspections
  • Community facilities, libraries and halls
  • Function centre
  • Accommodation facilities that already have check-in arrangements in place (i.e. hostels, hotels, large camp grounds).

Collected data will only be used for the purpose of contacting patrons in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak in the community: it cannot be used for other means.
