Town and Pilbara Ports Authority Welcome to Hedland Digital moves event online

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Town has moved the annual Welcome to Hedland community expo online, allowing Hedland based local businesses, community groups, volunteer organisations, artists and performers to introduce their services to the world.

The Welcome to Hedland community expo is traditionally held in South Hedland Town Square, targeting new residents in town who can socialise and network with stallholders.

Local Governments across WA are finding innovative ways of engaging residents during COVID-19 restrictions, with online platforms empowering communities to find new ways of holding events.

Welcome to Hedland Digital broadens the potential audience for local stallholders, with the new digital platform accessible to anyone in the world.

Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP encouraged all Hedland based businesses, organisations and performers to get involved in the innovative platform.

“I’d like to commend the Town for launching Welcome to Hedland Digital, another example of staff continuing to engage the community online by adapting to the ban on mass gatherings.

“The digital platform will allow organisations and performers to upload their key information, which website visitors will be able to view from Friday 12 June 2020.

“The great thing about Welcome to Hedland Digital is that it broadens the audience from the traditional South Hedland Town Square venue. Organisations can potentially reach a Pilbara, WA, national and international audience on the platform, attracting people to our corner of the world.

“We understand how hard COVID-19 has hit local small business. This is an excellent opportunity to add another avenue of trade by including links to your eCommerce platforms on your profile.

“Registrations for digital stallholders and digital performers closes on Monday 1 June at 3 pm.”
