South Hedland Aquatic Centre will be undergoing a number of upgrades over the coming months, including the installation of a new pool liner, and the structural renewal of tiling in the vicinity.
All works are scheduled to commence on April 24 and will take approximately two months to complete.
On completion, these works are expected to extend the structural life of the pools by approximately 10 years.
Unfortunately, while works are ongoing, the entire facility will need to be closed to the public for health and safety reasons.
During this time, Gratwick Aquatic Centre’s operating hours will be extended to reduce the impact from the temporary closure of South Hedland Aquatic Centre.
As of Monday, 24 April, Gratwick Aquatic Centre’s operating hours will be:
- 5am-7pm Monday-Thursday
- 5am-6pm Fridays
- 8am-6pm Saturdays
- 10am-6pm Sundays
While many of the activities normally conducted from South Hedland Aquatic Centre can be relocated to Gratwick Aquatic Centre, Swim School will unfortunately not be able to shift operations to Gratwick Aquatic Centre due to its lower temperatures, and will only resume operations in Term 3 when South Hedland Aquatic Centre reopens.
