You wanted a larger gym space and more equipment! Well, we listened and have been working behind the scenes to make it all happen!
We’ve been eagerly waiting to get everything confirmed, and we can now share the news that we’ll be expanding the gym and getting in a range of new equipment from Technogym – and when we say new, we mean new, new.
Port Hedland Leisure will be the only local government gym in Australia to feature Technogym’s newest line of Biostrength equipment, which is the first strength training solution that adapts to you using AI to ensure you get 30% better results in the same amount of time when compared to classic training with equipment or free weights.
But it doesn’t stop there, we will also be bringing in Technogym’s range of Excite Live Cardio equipment which will provide you with a virtual coach that creates workouts specific to you and your goals, motivating you and guiding you through your personalised program to help you maximise your workout time and more quickly reach your goals!
When do works start?
Exciting times ahead!! Gym expansion works will take 4 weeks to complete, with construction to commence on Monday, 7 August.
On completion, the new equipment will be moved in, and all our staff will then undergo extensive training on the new equipment, so when the gym reopens, they’ll be able to get everyone up to speed.
We’ll then host an open day for the whole community to drop in and check out our new and improved facilities – More information will be released in the coming weeks!
What does it mean for you while works are ongoing?
While the gym at Wanangkura Stadium is closed for expansion works, you won’t be charged anything for your existing membership
However, we know that you will want to keep up your fitness levels, so you will still have full access to Gratwick Fitness Centre and Gratwick Aquatic Centre – Admittedly, it may get crowded at times, but when works are complete, we’ll have more room than ever at Wanangkura Stadium.
While works will also include the Group Fitness Room, we will still be running a limited range of Group Fitness classes at external venues.
As for the crèche, the team will be taking a well-deserved break and return to action when the gym reopens!
What about the Courts and Function Rooms at the Stadium?
Activities in these spaces will not generally be affected, however, there may be minor disruptions to accommodate construction from time-to-time.
Can I sign up while works are ongoing at the Stadium?
You can most definitely sign up while gym works are ongoing – You'll just be charged our one-off Joining Fee.
Ordinary membership fees will only resume when the gym at Wanangkura Stadium reopens.
This means that if you join on or after Monday, August 7, you'll effectively get free access to Gratwick Fitness Centre and Gratwick Aquatic Centre for the duration of the works.
