Our safety systems detected a fault in the chlorine gas system earlier this morning at South Hedland Aquatic Centre.

Staff responded quickly and professionally, evacuating the facility and contacting emergency services as a precautionary measure.

While there was no immediate risk to patrons or staff, the safety and wellbeing of our community remains our highest priority, and these actions were taken to ensure the highest standard of safety.

Emergency services have attend site and advised that regular operations can safely resume.

Our team is presently running through our reopening protocols and South Hedland Aquatic Centre is scheduled to reopen at 2pm with all programs and services resuming ordinary operations.

Specialist technicians will also be attending site tomorrow to undertake further inspections and remedial work if required.

We sincerely thank our patrons for following all on-site directions, emergency services for their prompt response, and our staff for their quick, calm and professional management of the situation.
