First time runner? Or maybe you wanna beat your PB at Ship to Shore this year? We've got you covered!

This year we have a free 6 week running program in the lead up to Ship to Shore designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced runners.

Each session combines a guided warm‑up, skill drills, and a coached run, with optional tips on technique and training.

Sessions are tailored to participant ability, with pacing groups where needed, to help build confidence, improve fitness, and support progression towards a comfortable 3km, 6km or 10km run.

Program Enquiries

Wait... Isn't that 8 weeks?

Technically! But two of those weeks fall during the school holidays, so we aren't counting them! We'll still be running the program over the holidays, but those sessions will be optional in nature.

How challenging will it be? Will I be able to keep up?

Fitness level will be assessed during the first session so that exercises can be adapted to the group. You will be pushed to your limits though!! If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you!

What if I have an injury?

If you have any injuries, it is imperative that you notify the trainer prior to the start of a session starting. We can then adjust any exercises accordingly so that you can still get a fulfilling workout.

What if I feel unwell?

If you are not feeling 100% that’s ok. If you can come and participate at a lower intensity that is best. Every workout counts after all.

What if it’s raining, or... really, really hot?

A message will be sent to all members of the group if there are any changes to sessions. If you do not receive a message, head to your session as planned! Remember that the occasional challenges of training outdoors are a vital part of getting you ready for anything Hedland can throw at you!

Where can I leave my keys?

You may leave any keys/valuables in the trainers vehicle. However, the The Town accepts no liability for lost, damaged or stolen items.

What if I cannot attend a session?

Jut cancel your booking in the Member Portal so we can reallocate the slot to another runner!

How do I register?

After filling in our Enquiries Form, one of our trainers will send you more information on the program and advise you on how to finalise your registration. Alternatively, you can drop in to Wanangkura Stadium during staffed hours to speak to one of our trainers and finalise your registration.

Do I need to register for the run separately?

Registration for the run and registration for the running program are completely separate! Click the button at the top to register for the running program, and to register for the run itself, click here.
